Blue Cross/Blue Shield Interface - 10/02/02
PeopleSoft HRMS Known Issues and Information: Blue Cross/Blue Shield Interface - 10/02/02
PeopleSoft HRMS will become the sole source of information for all health benefits enrollment as of 11/01/02, when the Blue Cross/Blue Shield Interface process will be made available via release 2.13, scheduled for 10/31/02. Beginning 11/1/02, access to QCare will be read only. Please take note of the following reminders and notifications:
Mailing Addresses in PeopleSoft.
The address data provided to QCare will be selected initially from Mailing Address under Go > Administer Workforce > Use > Personal Data > Name/Address. If no Mailing Address is present, the address will be selected from Home Address. This allows for proper addressing in QCare for employees with out of state addresses, as well as employees with mailing addresses distinct from their home addresses. Per business process HR205, "If the employee's actual home address is an out of state address, the GaFirst project recommends using the school address as the Home Address in this panel. The employee's out of state home address is entered as the Mailing Address." This is similar to how addressing works for W-2s.
Dependent addresses in PeopleSoft vs. QCare.
All dependent addresses in QCare will default to the employee's address.
COBRA in PeopleSoft.
All COBRA processing will need to be administered through PeopleSoft after access to QCare is eliminated. Please review business processes BEN205, BEN210, BEN215, BEN220, BEN225, BEN230, BEN235 and BEN240 for information about COBRA processes.
Updating benefits enrollment data in PeopleSoft.
Currently, the data emphasized in PeopleSoft is any data related to billing and deductions for health benefits. The data emphasized in QCare is anything related to the actual enrollment. Once access to QCare is downgraded to read only, users will need to insure that all data is accurately maintained in PeopleSoft exclusively.
Naming Conventions in QCare vs. PeopleSoft.
QCare does not accept full middle names, only initials. We recommend that users do not use the middle initial field in PeopleSoft, but continue to use the First Name (space) Middle Name convention. The Blue Cross/Blue Shield Interface process will automatically truncate the middle name to the first letter indicated to agree with the QCare middle initial convention. We recommend that users refer to the spelling of the employee's name as reported on their Social Security card if they are unsure of how to properly report the name.
