PER505 - Update Department Security Table

PeopleSoft HRMS Known Issues and Information:

Update Security - Department Table (PER505)

When PER505 is run in HRMS 7.51, if the department security tree is inactive or the AS OF DATE entered is prior to the effdt of any active tree, PER505 will delete all values in PS_SCRTY_TBL_DEPT and PS_R_PER505.

The PS_SCRTY_TBL_DEPT controls departmental security, if deleted, users would not be able to bring up employees in the PS application.

This issue will be of more concern after your database is converted in preparation for the PeopleSoft Financials Implementation. Currently, most institutions only have one Dept_Security Tree row with an effective date of 01/01/1901 and enter an AS OF DATE of 01/01/1901 as instructed in earlier training documentation. During the conversion, a new effective dated row will be inserted into the Departmental Security Tree. It will be imperative to verify the date of the Department Security tree row that is in effect. This date should be entered as the AS OF DATE during the Update Security - Department Table (PER505) process.

PeopleSoft has provided a patch (to be incorporated in Release 2.02, 08/30/01) that renders the following warning messages should the most recent department security tree be inactive or a date be entered for the AS OF DATE that is earlier than the date of the current tree: (1) "The most recent tree for one or more SetIDs is active" (2) "As Of Date precedes the earliest effective tree." These messages are only warnings, the system will allow the user to proceed.
