Please distribute the following as needed. Action may be required. SUBJECT: Some queries do not run successfully after the PeopleTools and Oracle upgrade PURPOSE: To enable users to recreate queries that will run successfully and inform OIIT to stop any runaway queries. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The PeopleTools 8.48 and Oracle 10g upgrade that was delivered on July 23, 2007 included many changes to PeopleSoft query. As a result of these changes, some queries that use tables containing data from Personal Information no longer run successfully. If you have queries that no longer run successfully, please attempt to recreate your queries using alternate tables, such as the Employees Table or Names Table. Please be advised that if you have a query that does not run to completion, it continues to run on the server even after you close out of the query tool or the PeopleSoft application. These "runaway" queries can result in all schools on the same server experiencing slowness in the PeopleSoft application or the inability to run processes. If you have a query that does not complete successfully, please contact OIIT to have the query stopped so that the performance impact to your school and other schools on your server can be minimized. |
