Please distribute the following as needed. Action may be required. Note: Audience for this announcement is for the technical users at the institutions. KI0077 - Changes to Software Distribution for PeopleSoft HRMS PeopleTools Upgrade SUBJECT: Software distribution method changes in corresponding to the HRMS PeopleTools 8.48 Upgrade. PURPOSE: To notify the technical users at the institutions that the method for distribution of PeopleSoft HRMS Software will be changed as of July 23, 2007, in conjunction with the PeopleSoft HRMS PeopleTools 8.48 Upgrade. BACKGROUND: During the PeopleSoft HRMS 7.51 and V8 upgrades, OIIT distributed an installer that ran in client server mode to pre-package the necessary software like Crystal, PeopleTools Query, various SQR programs, etc. Because: 1. It was easier to update the fileserver; 2. There were space limitations on the workstations; 3. We were required to ensure that the software was compatible with all of our other applications, such as PeopleSoft Financials, and BANNER. For these reasons, the current distribution method was adopted. In today’s environment most machines have sufficient space to handle an abundance of software packages and continued software conflict monitoring is no longer necessary. Therefore, the software distribution methodology must be changed. FUNCTIONAL IMPACT: Technical users at the institutions will be given the manufacturer-provided installer along with the documentation provided by each vendor to install the necessary software and its corresponding components. A single installer prepackaging different software will NOT be delivered.
