In order to maintain the sequence of the known issues sent out afterward, this known issue is now renamed to KI0049 PeopleSoft HRMS Known Issues and Information – 12/13/05 Please distribute the following as needed: KI0049 – IRS Notice 2005-76 - Withholding on Wages of Non-Resident Alien Employees Performing Services within the United States IRS Notice 2005-76, released late this year, addresses changes to withholding for Non Resident Aliens performing services within the United States. The notice can be found at http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-drop/n-05-76.pdf. PeopleSoft will deliver modifications to the HRMS application to comply with these changes in Tax Update 06-A or Tax Update 06-B. <> OIIT has received verbal confirmation from IRS that employers have a one year extension to comply with the new regulations. We have asked for backup documentation for the extension and will share that with this listserv when received.
