USG Listservers

Listserver Communication Guidelines

Listservers are used throughout the University System of Georgia (USG) to host discussions and share information. The Office of Information and Instructional Technology (ITS) provides subscription and notification services for many of these lists.

ITS posts official communications through selected ITS-owned USG listservers to disseminate information about production application or technical releases, known issues, training, conferences, defect corrections, patches, etc. Each USG institution should have key staff subscribed to ITS listservers.

Although ITS staff regularly monitor listserver postings for informational purposes, these lists are not a substitute for requesting ITS support through the ITS HELPDESK. ITS staff respond to product and service support requests only when issues are logged with the ITS HELPDESK and assigned a case number. To obtain support for production applications and services supported by ITS, users should use the tiered support system that provides logging, tracking, resource assignment, communication, and reporting of production-related issues, efforts, and resolutions.

To bring ITS centralized support to bear on an issue, for prompt action on a technical or functional problem or policy issue, or for more information or clarification regarding ITS owned USG listservers including acceptable use and subscription, contact the ITS HELPDESK at http://www.usg.edu/customer_services (self-service ticket submission) or e-mail Helpdesk@usg.edu. For urgent or production down situations, call the ITS HELPDESK (706-583-2001, or toll free within Georgia 1-888-875-3697).

Thank you for your cooperation.
