Connecting Teachers and Technology: Summary

April 1, 1995

This initiative will increase the number of courses which integrate technology into the instructional process by preparing teachers to use various technologies, to teach over a distance, and to explore the contributions of technology to instruction. Approximately sixty faculty from around the system will participate in the first of many workshops which will be provided to prepare teachers to use technology in instruction. These first sixty will be expected to become mentors on their campuses for others interested in using various technologies. An instructional technologist position will be provided for each campus. The development of thirty demonstration courses which address areas of critical need in the state will be funded for delivery in 1996, as will several satellite courses about the Olympics. Schools with only one GSAMS installation will receive another; schools already with two will have an option for another GSAMS installation or may propose other equipment needs which will enhance learning opportunities. Approved Residence Centers will have the opportunity to receive a GSAMS or high tech classroom.
