Connecting Students and Services: Summary
April 1, 1995
The initiative Connecting Students and Services will make it possible for students to acquire accurate information related to required college preparatory courses, determine transferability of college credit, access basic college admissions information, and explore career opportunities. Student transitions from high school to college and transfers from system schools or from technical institutes to University System units will improve as a result of the acquisition and implementation of a computerized transcript system. Automated telephone registration and computerized advising will facilitate student access to services. E-mail access will support electronic linking of faculty and students; mentors with minority students; students, counselors, and faculty with the Georgia Career Information System and with other electronic information which will enhance students' academic experiences.
Planning is underway for Connecting Students and Services, but implementation activities have not been delineated as to those which will be funded at the System level and to those preparations that need to be made by the institutions.
