Security Advisory Group (SAG) Subcommittee Charter
Name
The name of the committee is to be the ACIT Security Advisory Group.
Purpose
The purpose of this sub-group of the ACIT is facilitate small, focused discussions relative to the topic with the goal of developing deliberate and thoughtful recommendations that are made to the ACIT as it strives to embrace industry best practices and endorse effective methods applicable to Information Technology security administration functions.
Functional Responsibilities
Specific functions which the subcommittee will carry out will include:
- Providing a forum through which common concerns and priorities in the security arena can be considered, discussed, investigated and evaluated.
- Making thoughtful recommendations to the ACIT for consideration by the full committee.
- Presenting meeting activities to the ACIT
- Serving as a project team on items delegated by the ACIT
- Advise the USG Chief Information Security Officer in Information Technology Security and Electronic Privacy matters
Membership
The membership will be comprised of eight rotating members. Four will be primary members of the ACIT, four will be designees of ACIT members who’s campus role & responsibilities are focused on security administration and operations. These members will serve four year terms. One ACIT member and one security administrator will rotate off the committee each year. The BOR IT Audit Representative, system CISO, and an OIIT Security Representative will serve as permanent members. Each Spring new members are nominated by the SAG and approved by the ACIT Executive Committee. New members will begin attending the committee meetings as soon as nominations are confirmed. The members rotating off the committee will continue in their positions thru the Fall allowing time for transition.
An outgoing committee member may continue for another four-year term if the ACIT chair, SAG chair and the member agree. This method will provide continuity for the advisory group while not locking members in with a permanent assignment.
