Networking Subcommittee Charter
Name
The name of this subcommittee of ACIT will be the ACIT Networking Subcommittee.
Mission
The primary mission of the ACIT Networking Subcommittee is to provide advice and consultation to the Vice Chancellor for Information and Instructional Technology and his or her designated staff who must establish and promulgate effective networking and telecommunication strategies within the University System of Georgia. "Networking and telecommunications" is defined as all forms of digital telecommunications, including multimedia voice telephony, video distribution and data networking.
Scope
The scope of the subcommittee extends to cover all areas of networking and telecommunications that relate to the Unversity System as a whole.
Functional Responsibilities
The subcommittee is charged with carrying out the following functions:
- Advise and assist the Office of the Vice Chancellor in developing plans and standards for use by Peachnet staff and the University System institutions in accomplishing effective networking within the University System of Georgia and to other external networks.
- Provide a forum where discussion on the part Peachnet staff and University System institutions can occur related to evolving networking or telecommunications issues which recommendations can be provided to University System leadership.
- Advise and assist the Office of the Vice Chancellor in undertaking projects or studies related to networking or telecommunications which may not be conveniently accomplished by the Vice Chancellor's staff alone.
