MATH 1116 Integrated Calculus IB D 4-0-4 Approved as a 3-year ** pilot for Area D

** Because of the transferability issues inherent in the content of MATH 1115 in particular, the Council approved the MATH 1115-1116 sequence on a pilot basis for Georgia College & State University only. The institution was requested to keep detailed records on student success in both courses over the 3-year pilot window. It was further requested that the institution maintain detailed records on transferability issues that may arise for students completing one or both courses at GC&SU and then transferring to another institution. The Council requested a report at the conclusion of the 2008-09 academic year so that a determination could be made regarding the continued approval of these courses and the possibility of approving this sequence for other System institutions.

Other business

  1. The Council agreed to consider the following eCore issues at the Fall meeting:
    • Method for approval: on campus, in the eCore committee, and in the CGE
    • Assessment of learning outcomes
    • Examination of transfer issues—May an institution refuse to accept eCore credit?
  2. In order to facilitate communication across the System, the Council recommended that Council Actions be posted on the Core Curriculum web page. Dorothy will follow through on that request.

  3. The Council congratulated Dr. Elizabeth Ragsdale on her retirement and thanked her for her many years of service to the System, to Darton College and to the Council.
