Procedures and Criteria for Establishing a New Agreement
Associate of Applied Science degrees are often considered career degrees because they are designed to prepare students for immediate employment. Career degrees awarded on a cooperative basis in conjunction with a Technical System of Georgia institution may be offered only under the following areas: Business, Health, Services, and Technology. Specific areas of study are designated as options.
All current and proposed new cooperative degree programs are to be listed as one of the following:
- A.A.S. in Business (AASBC) – CIP 52.9999
- A.A.S. in Health (AASHC) – CIP 51.9999
- A.A.S. in Services (AASSC) – CIP 43.9999
- A.A.S. in Technology (AASTC) – CIP 48.9999
Including the technical component, which shall be accepted in transfer as “block credit,” all cooperative Associate of Applied Science degrees shall include the equivalent of at least four full-time system semesters of study.
Institutions that seek to propose new cooperative degree programs should complete the form for cooperative associate degrees and request Board action.
Modifications to current agreements inclusive of the elimination and addition of specific options under already existing disciplinary areas, require that specific details be reflected on the Degrees and Majors inventory with substantiating rationales for each revision. Submission of a request to the Office of Academic Programs enables action to be taken on such modifications.
